Raising A Ruckus on the Trailer Trash Podcast

by Sam Watts | Jul 26, 2024

I jumped on the Trailer Trash Podcast to talk about the side of trucking nobody brags about — safety and compliance. It’s not glamorous. There’s no chrome or neon lights in this part of the business. But screw it up, and you’re one inspection, one lawsuit, or one audit away from parking your trucks for good.

We didn’t sugarcoat a thing. I told it like it is — most small carriers think safety is something the “big guys” worry about, but they’re wrong. Smaller fleets are often hanging by a thread, and one bad decision can cut it clean. We talked about the traps that’ll take your authority, your insurance, and your reputation before you even know what happened.

I laid out what really goes down when the FMCSA comes knocking, and why you can’t scramble your way through an audit. We got into CSA scores and how fast they can tank if you’re not watching your back. And yeah, I said it — you can build a real safety program without a bunch of overpaid compliance suits, but you have to actually give a damn and put in the work.

Lawsuits, skyrocketing insurance, drivers under the microscope — it’s all part of the new game. And if you think you can wing it, you’re already halfway to the scrapyard.

Listen to my conversation on the Trailer Trash Podcast if you want the truth about keeping your rigs on the road. No fluff. No PR spin.
